Art has always served a sacred purpose in India. The best modern day example is Shri Raja Ravi Verma. He is India’s most well known artist and also revered as one of India’s greatest contemporary artists.

Fusing European techniques with Indian sensibility, he drew his inspiration from India’s vibrant culture – God, Goddesses, Deities, Epics & Puranas, local myths and legends.

His affordable lithographs went on to become calendar art and have had a profound impact on India, often as objects as worship.
